Good picture poor volume controll March 10, 2010 W. Kitchen (Columbia, SC) I bought this TV for use in my bedroom some time ago. The TV has a great picture but from level 1-10 on the sound there is no change in volume which is a nuisance. At this sound level the TV is hard to fall asleep too and forget it if you don't set the timer and an infomercial comes on in the middles of the night because it's going to wake you up.
My only other complaint is turning on and off the TV. If you turn the TV off using the button on the TV you can't turn it back on with the remote. To me this is very strange and took a little getting use to but now it's not a big deal.
I have had my TV for almost 2 years and use it in the kitchen now because the of the volume issues but over all it has been a good TV.
Not a Horrible TV May 5, 2009 JMS (Alexandria, VA) I have had this TV for 2 years and find that it was not a horrible purchase. The picture is excellent when playing DVDs, but somewhat grainy with regular cable (a problem with other TVs as well). The remote is tiny and it is next to impossible to see the buttons in low light (so buy a new remote. . .). The channel images on the screen are also too small and the time delay when switching channels requires patience. The worse part of the equation is the volume. As others have said, the volume on setting "1" is too loud. Guess it is good for the price, but I wouldn't buy again.
Thank Goodness I purchased Extra Warranty Protection!!! March 4, 2009 L. Rose (San Francisco, Ca, USA) Purchased a REFURB through ebay slightly over 1 year ago (Jan 2008) and decided to purchase an additional warranty(square trade). I paid about $350 + shipping for the TV and was very pleased until December 2008 when I went to turn it on one day and NOTHING! I have no idea what the problem was & cannot imagine what led to it~ The TV was wall mounted (by contractor), NOT hooked up to cable,as I used a simple antenna, and I did have a DVD player connected to the TV. Filed a claim with warranty provider & the TV was repaired & sent back to me. I tried 3 different times to call and find out what the problem had been but was never able to get an answer. Seems to be working fine but I'm keeping my fingers crossed since the warranty has expired!!
Great LCD monitor, good TV October 20, 2008 Stephen2046 I have owned this machine for more than 1 year. I use this machine as both extended monitor of my laptop and TV. As a computer monitor, the picture is crystal, especially when I watch the photos taken with my Nikon D40 on it. The pictures are well reproduced with the original color, very sharp and saturated comparing with LCD monitor of my laptop and other CRT monitor. The reason I give it 4 star is that it's not a good TV, compared with my 14" DAEWOO CRT TV. I think this is due to the low contrast of this machine. However, for about $300, it's a great deal!
No Digital Tuner! No HDMI, but also not a lot of $$$, either. January 23, 2008 Winston Wolf (St. Louis, MO USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I received this item as a shelf pull from a Big Box store, and immediately noticed the large sticker on the base telling me that it's only got an analog tuner so it won't be able to get an over air signal after Feb of whenever, so if you're looking for a digital tuner, look elsewhere.
Anyway, I agree with the others on the volume issue, it's rather loud at the 1 setting on the volume, especially when I'm trying to go to sleep, but it's not a deal breaker, and is easily adjusted by using the volume control on your input devices (you might be surprised to know that many cable boxes and DVD players have their own volume controls)
The picture is great, and it makes a more than appropriate bedroom TV, if you can tweak the volume controls a little.
